چکیده

We study with Monte Carlo methods an ensemble of c = −5 gravity graphs, generated by coupling a conformal field theory with central charge c = −5 to two-dimensional quantum gravity. We measure the fractal properties of the ensemble, such as the string susceptibility exponent γs and the intrinsic fractal dimensions dH . We find γs = −1.5(1) and dH = 3.36(4), in reasonable agreement with theoretical predictions. In addition, we study the critical behavior of an Ising model on a quenched ensemble of the c = −5 graphs and show that it agrees, within numerical accuracy, with theoretical predictions for the critical behavior of an Ising model coupled dynamically to two-dimensional quantum gravity, provided the total central charge of the matter sector is c = −5. From this we conjecture that the critical behavior of the Ising model is determined solely by the average fractal properties of the graphs, the coupling to the geometry not playing an important role.

Ising and Potts models on quenched random gravity graphs

We report on single-cluster Monte Carlo simulations of the Ising, 4-state Potts and 10-state Potts models on quenched ensembles of planar, tri-valent (Φ3) random graphs. We confirm that the firstorder phase transition of the 10-state Potts model on regular 2D lattices is softened by the quenched connectivity disorder represented by the random graphs and that the exponents of the Ising and 4stat...

Ising Spins on Thin Graphs

The Ising model on “thin” graphs (standard Feynman diagrams) displays several interesting properties. For ferromagnetic couplings there is a mean field phase transition at the corresponding Bethe lattice transition point. For antiferromagnetic couplings the replica trick gives some evidence for a spin glass phase. In this paper we investigate both the ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic models ...

Quenching 2D Quantum Gravity

We simulate the Ising model on a set of fixed random φ graphs, which corresponds to a quenched coupling to 2D gravity rather than the annealed coupling that is usually considered. We investigate the critical exponents in such a quenched ensemble and compare them with measurements on dynamical φ graphs, flat lattices and a single fixed φ graph. Submitted to Phys Lett B. 1 Address: Sept. 1993 199...

Non-self-averaging in autocorrelations for Potts models on quenched random gravity graphs

We investigate the non-self-averaging properties of the dynamics of Ising, 4-state Potts and 10-state Potts models in single-cluster Monte Carlo simulations on quenched ensembles of planar, trivalent ( 3) random graphs, which we use as an example of relevant quenched connectivity disorder. We employ a novel application of scaling techniques to the cumulative probability distribution of the auto...

Symmetric Vertex Models on Planar Random Graphs

We discuss a 4-vertex model on an ensemble of 3-valent (Φ) planar random graphs, which has the effect of coupling the vertex model to 2D quantum gravity. The regular lattice equivalent of the model is the symmetric 8-vertex model on the honeycomb lattice, which can be mapped on to an Ising model in field, as was originally shown by Wu et.al. using generalised weak graph transformation technique...
